Fetal ZIKA VIRUS to the Fetus


Microcephaly is a neurological symptom that the brain does not develop properly and is smaller than the normal brain, resulting in intellectual disability.

According to the Brazilian Health Authority, about 3,500 cases of microcephaly infection have been reported from ZIKA virus infection from October 2015 to January 2016. Since the microcephaly patient has increased about 15 times as compared to before the pandemic, Zika virus is considered that closely related to microcephaly.

Infection cases have been reported in 71 countries (12 in Asia, 48 in Latin America, 1 in North America, 13 in Oceania, 12 in Africa), in 15 countries in the past, and total 86 countries (As of March 23, 2018) Recently, travelers visiting South America are reported to be infected with the Zika virus. This is straining medical authorities around the world.

The symptoms of Zika virus Infections are known to cause mild symptoms such as a headache, fever, rash, and arthralgia in about 20% of infected patients, and 80% of the remaining infected patients do not feel symptoms. Until now, there are no cases of deaths due to infections. In addition to fetal microcephaly, a serious disease associated with Zika virus is Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS), which has symptoms of myasthenia in the peripheral nervous system.

DiaPlexQ™ ZCD Detection Kit (ZIKV, CHIKV, DENV) is designed to detect the nucleic acid of Zika virus, Chikungunya virus and Dengue virus contained in total RNA extracted from blood suspected patients using the principle of real-time RT PCR.

Product Features

SolGent's OneStep qRT-PCR method performs RT reaction and Real-time PCR amplification reaction sequentially in one tube without separate experiment for Reverse Transcription (RT) reaction. Through this method, the detection time, detection cost and detection sensitivity were improved compared to conventional PCR diagnosis.
It is designed so that qRT-PCR reaction can be done by 2X OneStep qRT-PCR Buffer (ZCD), OneStep qRT-PCR Enzyme Mix (ZCD), RTase, DNA polymerase, RNase inhibitor and Primer & Probe Mixture (ZCD) contained in the Kit. In addition, it also provides a Control Template (ZCD) to compare results with clinical samples and enable accurate interpretation of results.
